If you would like opportunity to build a tape measure 2m yagi, Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 am will be a 2m antenna building party.  Here are building directions.

Address: 731 Nantucket Ave, Eugene

Directions: We’re between River Road and Northwest Expressway.  Take the Northwest Expressway to the Cornwall exit, turn left (North) onto North Park Ave.  Take the 3rd street on the right, Nantucket Ave.  We’re the 2nd to last house on left:  cream colored w/ blue trim & 2 columns in front.

The event will be in Nelson’s garage where there will be tables, tools and other helpers.

Parking options:

  • The first 3 arrivals may park in my driveway
  • Park along Nantucket Ave (there are 2 places in front of the house, 2 across from it, and several before you get to the house)
  • Continue past the house, take a left turn, and park along Emerald Park Dr. (paying attention to where the no parking signs are)
Supplies to bring (also listed in the attachment):
  • A 1″ wide tape measure at least 10 feet long
  • 2 feet of 3/4 inch PVC pipe
  • 2 – 3/4″ PVC crosses
  • 1 – 3/4″ PVC T
  • 6 – 1 1/4″ Hose clamps
  • A 6″ long piece of #12 copper wire
  • A scrap of RG-58 coax
  • A connector to attach the antenna to your radio
Optional Supplies:
  • Bicycle handlebar grip to add as a handle
  • Small strip (6″ or so) of Velcro to keep the antenna elements folded up during transport
  • Your hand-held radio so you can test the antenna
Tools that would help, but are not required (we’ll have some available, but more would be nice):
  • Sturdy scissors to cut the tape measure (tin snips are sometimes too big for this thin metal
  • PVC pipe cutters
  • Soldering iron
